Ever wonder why your life is not reflecting what you believe is the “perfect image” you hold?
The reality is, often people repeat negative statements in their minds without even being aware of what they are doing.
Thinking and telling yourself that you cannot do something, that you are too lazy or lack inner strength or that you are going to fail are all examples of these type of destructive, negative statements.
Whenever you engage in this type of thinking, you are treading in dangerous territory because your subconscious mind accepts as true what you keep saying and eventually attracts corresponding events and situations into your life (irrespective of whether they are good or bad for you) that align with these damaging negative statements.
Since you have a choice in what you think – you can choose to find the silver lining by thinking positive or you can think negative thoughts and destroy any hope you currently have – why not learn to focus your mind on and choose the positive?
There are proactive exercises you can preform that help build your resistance to negative thinking. Affirmations is one of those exercises.
Affirmations are simply positive statements that describe a desired situation. They are repeated many times in order to impress the subconscious mind and trigger it into positive action. In order to ensure the effectiveness of the affirmations, they must be repeated with attention, conviction, interest and desire.
Affirmations program the mind the same way that scripts and commands program your computer. Continually repeating the same words, helps to focus your mind and automatically builds corresponding mental images in the conscious mind which effect the subconscious mind, in a similar manner to creative visualization.
This process and power of affirmations starts in the mind you think with – your conscious mind and then the subconscious mind takes charge.
By using this process consciously and intently, you are empowered to reshape your external life. You can affect your subconscious mind, transform your habits, behaviors, mental attitudes and ultimately your actions or reactions.
Getting results depends on several factors including time, focus, faith, and any feelings you invest in repeating your affirmations, the strength of your desires and how big or small your goal may be. Depending on your goals, you might attain immediate results while other times, it may take days, weeks or even months or longer, so patience is the keyword.
Beat in mind that repeating affirmations for a few minutes and then engaging your mind in negative thinking the rest of the day neutralizes the effects of your positive words/affirmations. If you wish to enjoy positive results, you must refuse to think any negative thought.
Negative thoughts about yourself are most detrimental and cause disease in the body. Negative comments about others does the same.
Place your affirmations in places you visit daily such as the bathroom mirror. The bathroom is one of the first room you’ll likely visit after waking, and this type of positive reinforcement will set your attitude for the day and attitude makes a huge difference to your life.
Examples of positive affirmations:
I set my personal goals and reach them. Success is a way of life for me.
Each day I work to improve and perfect my ability to focus and hold my concentration.
I easily visualize my desired results in advance.
I visualize complete achievement of my goals and create a detailed scenes in my mind of myself succeeding.
I am in outstanding physical, emotional and mental condition. I only feed my body foods that are nutritious for me and contribute to my health and well-being.
I have complete confidence in my talents and abilities.
I deeply respect my body and take excellent care of it.
I learn from past mistakes and only look forward not back.
I am prosperous and think only prosperous thoughts.
I can do it and I will do it!
